Vin Lananna was elected President of USA Track & Field by acclamation in December, 2016. Currently Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at the University of Virginia, Lananna previously was President of TrackTown USA, Inc., in Eugene, Oregon. As Associate AD at Oregon, he also led the Oregon program for 7 seasons (2005-2012). Lananna led TrackTown USA’s work with USATF, public and private partners in securing successful bids to host the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships, and 2021 IAAF World Championships. He spearheaded the University of Oregon’s efforts to host the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships through 2021 and TrackTown’s hosting of the 2008, 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. The 2016 U.S. Olympic Team men’s head coach, Lananna was Team USATF head coach at the 2011 IAAF World Track & Field Championships and 1990 and 1996 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, and was an assistant coach at the 2004 Olympic Games and 1999 IAAF World Championships. His 35-year, USTFCCCA Hall of Fame collegiate coaching career included leading teams to 11 NCAA titles and 42 conference crowns, while nearly 60 NCAA individual titles were won by athletes in his programs.
