The 2013 IAAF World Championships silver medalist in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, Ryan Wilson has been competing at the elite level for over a decade. He was the 2003 NCAA 110m hurdles champion while competing at the University of Southern California; 10 years later, as a self-coached athlete, he won the USATF Outdoor title and World Outdoor silver medal. Since 2013, Wilson has switched gears to become one of the best young coaches in the sport while still guiding his own competitive career. He coached then-unknown Nia Ali to a spot on the 2013 World Championships team. Under Wilson’s tutelage, Ali upset 2012 Olympic gold medalist Sally Pearson to win the 2014 IAAF World Indoor title in the 60-meter hurdles. Ali successfully defended that global title at the 2016 World Indoor Championships and won silver at the Rio Olympic Games. Her Rio performance earned Wilson the Order of Ikkos medal as Ali’s personal coach. The Columbus, Ohio native is a 2003 graduate of USC, where he was a three-time All-American and USC Track & Field Hall of Fame inductee.
